Information Literacy First Aid Model

Page history last edited by Katy Wrathall 12 years, 11 months ago

ANCIL can be used as a model for effective, holistic, one-to-one guidance to students as well as formally structured workshop sessions. The Information Literacy First Aid model has been developed by Dr. Helen Webster from the core attributes of ANCIL to help information literacy professionals meet the student’s immediate learning need while placing it in the context of their broader and longer-term information literacy development. This model could be used to inform the guidance offered by a range of professionals, where information literacy touches on their work with students. These professionals might include:

  • Librarians
  • Lecturers
  • Learning Developers
  • Disability Tutors
  • Counsellors
  • Careers Advisers
  • Language tutors
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Peer Mentors
  • Student Union Advisers
